Acting Mayor Congratulated the Handball Players for the Silver Medal

Sports hall of the “Fran Galović” Grammar School provided a loud support throughout the whole finals match of Handball Championship for Cadets M18 EHF EURO 2016 to our young handball players and helped them to achieve the best possible result.

Supported by this great atmosphere created by the audience on every match, the cadets of Croatia national handball team have won the silver medal, while the French team won the Championship with a score of 40:38.

The acting mayor Mišel Jakšić congratulated the Croatian players on this exceptional achievement.

This is truly a very motivating result for cadets of our national team. It’s interesting to note that the European Championships for Cadets is the first competition of this scope for this team and they have already won an extraordinary silver. Congratulations to the players and professional staff. A bright future awaits the new generation of handball players – said acting mayor Mišel Jakšić.

During the closing ceremony, awards were presented to the best players. Jasmina Stričević, the Head of Administrative Department of Finance, presented the prizes for the best goalkeeper (Till Klimpke – Germany) and the best right back player (Ivan Martinović – Croatia).

On behalf of the City of Koprivnica, Jasna Golubić, the Head of Administrative Department of Construction, presented the prizes for the best left wing (Stefan Sunajko – Serbia) and the best right wing player (Benjamin Richert – France).

Mišel Jakšić, the acting mayor presented the prizes for the best left-back player (Sebastian Heymann – Germany) and top scorer of the championship (Ian Tarrafeta Serrano – Spain).
